After getting a DNLA error 2006 on our Playstation 3 with newly updated firmware, I hit the interweb to determine if I could find a solution. When we initially setup the PS3 it had no issues locating the shared folders on our Windows Home Server and we were up and running with streaming video across our network from the WHS to the PS3.

However, with the latest firmware update to the PS3, the media server functionality started throwing a Microsoft style, cryptic message of "DNLA Error 2006". After looking around the web for solutions or lists of the DNLA errors, I stumbled upon the idea to check to make sure the Guest account on the Windows Home Server had permissions to read the Videos, Music and Photos shared folders.

Once the Guest account was given read permissions for the appropriate folders, the PS3 had no issues streaming the media. This required no uPnP changes, no additional software, no firewall changes, no reinstalls, etc.

I would guess that you need to have a guest account with media serving turned on. I also think there are options in Windows Media Player that have to be set, but I'm not positive.
