I've been testing out the
content aggregation API provided by inform.com at the office. It's an extremely powerful API that can be using in a number of ways. The first piece that we are testing is passing over our blogs and articles via a SOAP connection and receiving enriched text along with tags and topics to the content. This has greatly improved our tagging of blogs which is easily spammable by our users.
The second piece we are testing is the API call that allows us to pass an inform topic or tag to their SOAP server and receive back relevant news, video, audio and blogs from around the web. This allows us to easily put relevant text on a page to help build a richer site and obtain better search engine placement with our own material.
It's a very powerful API. Unfortunately, it is a pay service, so us little guys can't get a hold of its power. I've looked for free alternatives, but haven't been able to find any.
