TBD Website Updates

If you are returning to the site, I am sure you have already noticed that the website has changed dramaticly. I've been in my job for about eight months now, and in that short time I have learned more about web design (not development) than I had ever learned on my own.

I got extremely tired of having to dig through piles of nested tables and decided to rewrite the entire site, removing tables from the layout of the website and replacing it with clean css. I used one of the css layouts found at Alessandro Fulciniti's Layout Gala.

A couple of websites that I frequent to help me get ideas for what I want to do include Open Source Web Design and css Zend Garden. Both of which offer a tons of free website layouts and designs.

Other changes to the website include working on changing links from "Click Here", which is very search engine unfriendly, to something like "Pictures of My Honda F4i". I have also renamed a bunch of pages to things that search engines can actually read.

I have also worked up an updated version of guestMap that is Google Maps API v.2 compatible. I have also streamlined more of the code and added a link to the development guestMap. Hopefully this will let people keep an eye on changes that are coming and see that I am keeping the project alive. I am also considering taking donations to help fund the project's development.

In the nine months since I started the guestMap project, I have had over 350 people mark my guestMap.

MudHolez.com has been keeping me extremely busy. I have restructured the site 3 times since I initially started designing it. It is still no where near completion, but it has been hammered by traffic since I started actively sending emails to clubs and handing out business cards with it's website address on them.
