For my birthday, my wife got the family together and everyone helped by another major mod for the TorRed Daytona. She did a ton of leg work to figure out all the pieces I would need to lower the Charger.
One of the major negatives of the Daytona's is that their rear shocks are "Auto Load Leveling." This means that if you are hauling 500lbs. of dog food in the trunk, the Charger will sit exactly as if there was nothing in the trunk. These shocks are known as
Nivomats. I'm not sure if they should really be considered a plus or a minus.
However, if you want to lower a Daytona, then they are definitely a negative. Lowering a Charger will require the purchase of replacement rear shocks in addition to the lowering kit.
For my birthday I ended up with the
TEIN Dress Up Master S.Tech which offers between a 1.5 and 1.7 inch drop. In addition to that kit, my wife found out that
Pedders Suspension is coming out with a rear shock that is designed to replace the Nivomats and work with a lowering kit.
Unfortunately, the
Pedders GSR rear shocks ( 141206GSR ) are scheduled to read the dealers until the end of January. In addition to that, since it's a brand new kit, no installers in the area are willing to give a price quote without first seeing the car.
More to follow when the kit gets installed.
