Since Friday was my last day as a web developer for SportingNews.com, I have been trying to reclaim my BlackJack from being attached to their Exchange server. I thought I had successfully removed the Exchange link, only to find that every single contact had been deleted along with my calendar. After scouring the net for a solution, I finally stumbled upon the answer from a comment ashvinlima wrote:
Vista always is in conflict with the device IF you either are on a wireless network or a LAN and that network is firewalled. So even if you have disabled firewall protection on your system (in your frustration to find the problem...like I did), IF YOU ARE STILL CONNECTED TO THE NETWORK WMDC 6.1 will not recognize the device. SIMPLY TURN OFF THE WIRELESS NETWORK OR DISCONNECT FROM THE LAN and Bingo! WMDC recognizes the phone.
This isn't only for wireless network connections though. I had to disable all network connections inorder to get Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 to recognize my BlackJack running Windows Mobile 6.0. I finally got all my contacts loaded on the phone, so now I don't have to screen 100% of my calls, only 99%.
