Having setup about a dozen sites using the e107 CMS package, I have become quite familiar with the pros and cons of the different PHP/MySQL CMS packages out there. e107 offers a great middle ground between the easy to use, but under powered CMS to the hard to master, over powered.
Something that has always been missing with e107 is the ability to manage two different domains with the same user database table. After thinking about written up the mod for my new gaming community network of sites, I stumbled across [Read More]
I have Google Alerts setup for a good number of things. One of those is "securitychoice.com" which is my old employer. I guess I never removed it from my list of Alerts and they just get funnelled into a folder.
Yesterday I got an alert that google.com had found Mr. Eric Dunlap's website. I took a look at his site and it appears that he has placed the domain securitychoice.com on his "Recent Spam" list, with a source of thtelecom.ca. I find this slightly amusing since Security Choice is one of ADT's leading reseller of home security [Read More]
Recently, I got bored with listening to my wife's boring Garmin C530's none text-to-speech(tts) GPS unit. This unit is something like $200 cheaper than the Garmin c550 which comes with text-to-speech. Text-to-speech is the feature that allows the GPS to say "Turn right on Main Street" instead of what the c530 does, which is "Turn right at the next road".
I recently found an application for my Blackjack that places a clock in the menu bar. This is extremely useful when you are using the phone for something other than talking and want to know what time it is.
TopClock is a free application that can be used by Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 2003.
Unfortunately, I am unsure of the name of the person that created the application called TopClock. I believe he's native language is Chinese or Japanese, so talking with him about the application is a little difficult.
He has given me permission to make available his [Read More]
Since tomorrow is my last day as a web developer for Security Choice, I decided to go ahead and remove the > software from my Samsung Blackjack. I've never really used the Blackjack without the Good client installed and have been wondering if this software is the root of problems with the phone locking up.
Obviuosly, with the software uninstalled I don't have access to email stored on the company's Exchange server, but since I [Read More]
"Thompson Family Vacation" is a term that has been used for years to scare both children and adults from my family. Last week it was taken to an all new level. My wife, thirteen month old, and I planned to fly from Charlotte, NC to Boston, Massachusetts. From there we planned to drive two hours to reach our destination in New Hampshire.
When we arrived at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, our check-in and security screening went well. We made it to the gate about an hour early and proceeded to wait for our flight to board. We [Read More]
I finally bought a new game this weekend. Neverwinter Nights 1 captured my attention all through college. My roommates and I would stay up until dawn playing on our network with a Cat5 cable run across the porch into our neighbors house so he could play on our network. I was a poor college student back then and couldn't afford to run a stand-alone NWN server. This meant that someone's box was taking a performance hit as it was hosting the game as well as playing it.
Fortunately, I was lucky to get my hands on an "old" [Read More]
I'm not sure how they got ahold of it, but the people over at No Mutants Allowed have released the Van Buren demo. I have uploaded a copy of it for those of you that can't find it on their site.
Unfortunately, the demo is exactly that, a demo. Not only that, but it's a demo from 4 years ago, from a company that is dead and gone. A lot of things don't work in it, but hopefully it will show diehard Fallout fans what the game could/should have been.
