Customer Disservice

It has finally come to my attention that a handful of game development companies don"™t subscribe to the idea of customer service, but rather they believe that once they have sold a game, they can be completely hands off.

As some of you already know, I recently built a new gaming PC with dual ATI x1900XT"™s that can be Crossfire"™d. I have yet to find a game that actually works well with Crossfire enabled. A list of games that I have tried include:

Welcome to the Suck
It's been nearly ten years since the original Total Annihilation was released by Chris Taylor over at the now defunct Cavedog Entertainment (now owned by Atari). Supreme Commander, Total Annihilation's successor is geared to be the greatest RTS ever created.

"According to the PC Gamer article, Supreme Commander will be unique amongst the countless members of the RTS genre in that it integrates grand-strategy ("Risk-like") mode with real-time, individual, ground-level battles. This may sound similar to systems found in games such as Rise of [Read More]

Never go as planned.
The computer build didn't go as planned. I had planned on using the ECS KA3 MVP motherboard and AMD AM2 3800+, inside of the Lian-Li V1200, along with an OCZ GameXtream 700W PSU, 2GB of Corsair DDR2 800 ram, and 2 [Read More]

PC Upgrade Time

The day has finally come. I have been forced to make a decision on the ever present question in any PC gamers mind: wait for next week, when prices will be lower and chips faster, or buy now and don't worry about the pain it will cause your credit card. I generally find myself to be an early adopter of new PC technology, especially when enough new technology is on the market.

With the release of the new Intel 'Conroe' chips and ATI releasing the new 3200 series motherboard chips, I figured now was the best time to go for a new system. Intel's [Read More]

Sparklines for your sites.
While searching the internet for information on using the PHP GD image library to create images on the fly, I a killer way of graphically displaying information using the GD library. Sparklines are described by Edward Tufte as
"intense, simple, wordlike graphics."
Not much development has happened on the PHP sparkline package, but it is definitely a good starting point for putting sparklines on your own site.

I was luck enough to already have browser tracking code implemented on this [Read More]

MS = <b>M</b>ore mi<b>S</b>takes

I recently downloaded Windows Media Player 11 Beta and gave it a beta test. It didn't take long for me to decide that Microsoft has made some criticial mistakes with it's new media player.

Overall, the feel of the Media Player 11 is similiar to the previous version. It of course has been reskinned to the darker aero-glass feel that can be found in Windows Vista. The main issue that I have with the new look and feel, is that it is [Read More]

I've never understood how people that reach positions in companies that allow them to make business critical decisions can be so inept at listening to the people that they manage. In the military, officers (management) are expected to know a little about a lot. This allows them to understand what their enlisted (non-management) men are telling them and make educated decisions.

In the civilian world this idea doesn't seem to be followed. Recently, the association that manages the MLS for my company's realty business switched companies that host their MLS solution. Instead of heeding the [Read More]

You Can't Arrest Me, I'm Illegal

According to the highest political powers of what most would deem the most powerful nation on Earth had decided that it is alright for people to break our laws. No, they have not decided that it is alright, they have decided that they will actually start rewarding those that have broken our laws.

The best way that I can describe what is happening in our country is to repeat the scenario that Sean Hannity and Neal Boortz are using. Let?s say that you are an average American citizen. You pay taxes, own a home, and have been working [Read More]

Going Big With the TJ
I'm talking about the Jeep. After my last trip to Uwharrie National Forest with SORA I decided that something had to be done about the extremely rough / stiff ride that my 99? Jeep TJ had. After consulting with Joe over at Darlington Offroad and the guys with SORA, I decided that the poor ride quality was from an incorrect lift being installed on the Jeep.

The kit that was installed on the Jeep before I bought it seems to have been a very entry level lift, not having upper control arms for front or rear, and [Read More]

April 28, 2006 was the two year anniversary of my motorcycle vs. Ford Explorer wreck. Those that don't know the story should look at the pictures of the wreck and the exchange between the horrible lawyer, Ms Liz Borg of McAdory Borg, I shouldn't have hired, the Alabama State Bar and me. Since two years was the statute of limitations for a lawsuit against Ellen Ingram, I guess now is a good of time as any to make all the facts known.

To make it short, I hired Liz Borg to represent me in a [Read More]
