"Thompson Family Vacation" is a term that has been used for years to scare both children and adults from my family. Last week it was taken to an all new level. My wife, thirteen month old, and I planned to fly from Charlotte, NC to Boston, Massachusetts. From there we planned to drive two hours to reach our destination in New Hampshire.
When we arrived at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, our check-in and security screening went well. We made it to the gate about an hour early and proceeded to wait for our flight to board. We [Read More]
Over the past couple months I have boarded planes through TSA "secured" airports over a dozen times. These secured airports are guarded by some of USA's finest underachievers. They are trained, and have honed the skills, to deter travels from boarding planes in under an hour, with dangerous factory sealed beverages, and without having to remove at least 3 articles of clothing.
They idioticly force you to remove laptops from their [Read More]
The other night my wife got a message on my cellphone from Wachovia Loss Management. They said that they were calling to confirm some charges on her(our) account and could we please call this 800 number. I went on to Google and did a search for that number. No hits. I then searched Wachovia.com. No hits there either.
Of course by this time I'm very interested to know why someone is calling from Wachovia, yet the number they leave to return the call on is not listed on their website. I give them a call to see [Read More]
I just received my state vehicle tax bill in the mail. I've can't for the life of my understand how it can not be double taxation to issue a state property tax on an item that I have already paid sales tax on, and pay the yearly "safety inspection"? tax.
Double taxation as explained on wikipedia.org is "Double taxation is a situation in which two or more taxes may need to be paid for the same asset, financial transaction and arises due to overlap between different countries' tax laws and jurisdictions."?
So if I am [Read More]
It has finally come to my attention that a handful of game development companies don"™t subscribe to the idea of customer service, but rather they believe that once they have sold a game, they can be completely hands off.
As some of you already know, I recently built a new gaming PC with dual ATI x1900XT"™s that can be Crossfire"™d. I have yet to find a game that actually works well with Crossfire enabled. A list of games that I have tried include:
According to the highest political powers of what most would deem the most powerful nation on Earth had decided that it is alright for people to break our laws. No, they have not decided that it is alright, they have decided that they will actually start rewarding those that have broken our laws.
The best way that I can describe what is happening in our country is to repeat the scenario that Sean Hannity and Neal Boortz are using. Let?s say that you are an average American citizen. You pay taxes, own a home, and have been working [Read More]
Yesterday was the nationwide event dubbed "A Day Without Immigrants." No, no, they didn't mean that the illegal immigrants had gone home. It was the day the illegal immigrants used to show the "economic clout" they have on the US economy. I personally didn't notice any thing different about yesterday than any other day. I actually noticed that most people didn't even know there was a boycott going on. While waiting to leave lunch at the Chinese [Read More]
Today was my court date for the ticket I received on July 17, 2005 for "Driving the wrong way on a divided lane highway" which is known as G.S. 20-146 in North Carolina.
I got the ticket making a left hand turn into a parking lot after getting a little lost. I will upload pictures of the intersection later.
At my first court appearance(where you just tell a DA what you plan to do about the ticket) I told them I wanted to dispute it. The DA told me to be in court today at 8:30am sharp.
The judge didn't show up until 9:30am. They call roll, and out of a 160 cases, only 4 plead not guilty(me being [Read More]
This morning I had my first court date about my traffic ticket. I found out it is considered a moving violation. It carries 4 points on my driving record and 2 points on my insurance record. This is only 1 point below the highest rated moving violations, which include passing a stopped school bus and speeding in excess of 20+ mph over the speed limit.
So I get to court and there are about 100 other people there for traffic court. This DA stands up and says that we can either try to get driving school, try to get it reduced to "Improper Equipment" or get a court date. He also says that only about 3 [Read More]
